Qantas Boeing 707-138B registration VH-XBA made a final landing at Longreach in western Queensland on Sunday 10 June 2007. She is now on display at the Qantas Founders Museum there. My thanks to Stephen Berry for providing the photographs upon which this painting is based. Stephen was on the racecourse side of Longreach Airport and captured the scenes obscured from my view by the mass of spectators' cars lined up along the fence.
Originally registered as VH-EBA, this aircraft was the first jet on the Australian civil register and was the first shortened 138 series 707 built by Boeing in 1959 and thus is of enormous significance to Australia's aviation history.
